This is no ordinary museum

The Australian Sports Museum at the MCG is your one stop shop for celebrating sport in Australian society. And there is something for everyone. Historic artefacts from some of the great moments in the story of sport, places to learn about the greats of our most popular games, fun interactive moments, and the opportunity for flat out play. Take your time to take it all in, there’s always something more to see!

Getting There:  There are numerous transport options to Gate 3 Trains to Jolimont Station to the north of the MCG are a five minute walk, while trams also stop outside Jolimont station. Richmond station is on the south-eastern side of the MCG. It’s a slightly longer walk but you can walk past Punt Road Oval, head north around Yarra Park to MCG Gate

Car Parking Dedicated vehicle parking is not currently available for MCG Tour visitors. Designated car parking spaces for disabled visitors are located at the corner of Jolimont Terrace and Jolimont Street, as is a drop-off zone. This area is close to Gate 1 of the MCG. Limited parking may be available in the Melbourne and Olympic Parks precinct as well as near the MCG along Wellington Parade, Jolimont Street and Jolimont Terrace.

Walking

The museum is a 15-20 minute stroll from Federation Square over William Barak Bridge to the MCG. and Buses Bus route 246 is a useful service for patrons from the northern and southern suburbs.  It stops in Punt Road and is just a short stroll through Yarra Park to the MCG.
